Veneers can transform the appearance of those people who are unhappy with their front teeth. They offer a natural, healthy-looking, aesthetic solution to disguise a whole range of imperfections whether that’s the shape or size, the colour or even to alter the length of the teeth.
Veneers are typically used to improve the appearance of a row of front teeth but can also be used to rectify an issue with a single tooth. Made from thin ceramic shells, the veneers are individually and personally crafted by hand to cover the front surface of each tooth.
Constructing and fitting veneers is a technically challenging process, so it’s important to consult an expert. At Exeter Advanced Dentistry we are very experienced in this technique and have improved the smiles of many people over the years, carefully listening to each patients’ desires and expectations to ensure that each set of veneers is personalised to the needs of the individual. It is always our aim to create an attractive smile which appears entirely natural and healthy, a smile where the veneers are indistinguishable from the natural teeth.
How does it work?
Veneers are thin pieces of porcelain created and carefully shaped in a laboratory before being bonded to the front of the tooth with a special dental adhesive.
In the majority of cases a small amount of enamel is removed from the surface of the tooth to allow the veneers to bond. Before we start the process we conduct a thorough assessment and we always talk through all aspects of the procedure so that our patients are fully informed before making a decision.
When would we recommend veneers?
Veneers are typically used to improve the appearance of the front teeth. They are an ideal solution for anyone who wants to:
- disguise discolouration
- cover and protect worn or chipped teeth
- alleviate overcrowding or close up gaps in teeth
- improve the appearance of uneven or low gum lines
