Over time, our teeth discolour as a result of both age and lifestyle. Coffee, tea, red wine and smoking all play a part in the discolouration process.
Whitening is the cosmetic process of removing stains and discolouration from teeth to restore their natural colour. In recent years technological advancements have led to a tremendous increase in demand for our tooth whitening service. When carried out by a dental professional, whitening is a safe, reliable and highly effective procedure that results in a brighter, more confident smile and improved self-esteem.
How does it work?
There are a number of whitening solutions on the market. At Exeter Advanced Dentistry we offer two options – in-surgery and home-based.
Our take-home whitening options are White Beauty (a day whitening system) and Opalescence (a night whitening system). These kits offer the convenience of brightening the teeth at a time and place that suits you. The process usually takes around two to six weeks. Treatment starts out with an initial consultation where we take impressions of the mouth and construct custom fitted trays. Along with the trays, we supply syringes of whitening gel and offer advice on getting the best results. In our experience, people find it most convenient to carry out the treatment overnight.
When would we recommend tooth whitening?
Tooth whitening is a cosmetic procedure and is very much a personal choice. For anyone considering this treatment we will talk through the in-surgery and home-based options in detail so that you can choose the best solution for you.
Whitening procedures are available to both our registered and non-registered patients.
