Why It’s Important To Replace Missing Teeth.

However, sometimes certain conditions or events can cause tooth loss. Whilst many of us may not think much of having a missing tooth, the reality is that it can cause serious oral health and psychological effects in time.

Many do not know that bones are similar to muscles, if they aren’t being stimulated they will begin to weaken and deteriorate. The force of biting and chewing is what keeps our jaw bones stimulated and strong, when even one tooth is missing the bone beneath begins to decrease in density. If you are missing more than one tooth, this can begin to create a sunken and shortened appearance; often making you look much older.

A further consequence of missing teeth is the difficulty it can cause in eating healthy foods. Nuts, vegetables and meats can now prove difficult to chew. As a result many patients also suffer from poor nutrition.
