This isn’t another biased post from a dentist trying to convince you to book in for more dental visits. Instead, we are taking this opportunity to explain the benefits of seeing a dentist regularly. We are an Exeter dentist, based in the heart of Exeter, so we are readily accessible. Should you require any of our treatments following reading this article, please do get in touch.
The common problem we find is that people seemingly with no issues and not experiencing tooth pain or bleeding gums, often believe that they are free from having to visit their dentist. This couldn’t be further from the truth: as dentists, we are trained to treat problems but we are also trained to prevent problems from arising. Spotting signs of potential problems very early on often allows us to prevent the need for surgery and other invasive treatment in the future.
Dental problems can quickly become extremely painful. In addition, once problems have escalated treatment can be very expensive. On the more serious side, it is worth knowing that 3 out of 4 adults aged 35 and over are affected by gum disease. With early diagnosis, the chances of reversing the disease are greatly increased. Similarly, oral cancer is on the rise and is far more treatable if caught early; with early detection resulting in a 90% increased survival outcome, delayed diagnosis can see survival rates drop to below 50%.
By having regular dental examinations we can ensure that every aspect of your oral health is being monitored and treated as early as possible. It also allows us to have regular conversations with you about maintaining your oral health; as well as answering any questions you may have.
